Counselling using the Arts
From 2021 to 2023 I trained in Pscycotherapy using the Arts at IATE (https://artspsychotherapy.org) and qualified in March 2024 and now certified and accredited by the BACP as a Professional Integrative Counsellor with the Arts (Level 5).

How do the arts work?
The Arts are a very powerful means of tapping into the unconscious. It helps you communicate your thoughts, experiences and to identify the feelings that seem to be so hard to put into words that are holding you back. This builds awareness, self esteem and resilience and the ability to resolve conflicts in all types of relationships.
The Arts could include drawing/painting, clay, puppetry, sand-tray, music, drama and movement. Creative and therapeutic writing is also incredibly powerful.

My approach is compassionate, gentle, holistic, humanistic and person centred. I also use CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and, of course, I integrate the Arts when and where appropriate. Our sessions together will be completely confidential.
I have a huge interest and growing knowledge in other therapies such as Somatic Experiencing (https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/somatic-therapy.html) , The Polyvagal Theory (https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/memberarticles/an-introduction-to-polyvagal-theory) and IFS Internal Family Systems (https://internalfamilysystemstraining.co.uk/ ).
I have worked with all ages; in care homes, with refugees and their children, for charities, in schools, etc. I also work individually (1:1) from home or at The Eaves (https://theeaves.org.uk/), remotely (ie. zoom/FaceTime) and within families or other groups. Either way, we can discuss other options to suit your needs.
